Community guidelines.
shuk.world is built for the people you already daven with. These are the rules that keep it that way — clear, short, and serious where it counts.
01What we welcome
The site is for real community members posting real listings. We want this to feel like a quiet weekday morning at Machaneh Yehuda — busy, useful, dignified.
- Marketplace listings: items for sale, free items, gemach offerings
- Housing — apartments, sublets, yom tov rentals, rooms
- Services from community professionals — sofrim, mohelim, tutors, simcha vendors, photographers, therapists, translators
- Jobs and parnasa opportunities
- Community needs — carpools, bikur cholim, hachnasas orchim, daven requests, lost & found
- Tzedakah requests, screened for legitimacy
02What we don't allow
Commercial spam and schemes. No MLMs, no pyramid structures, no "passive income" or "work from home" pitches. No crypto, NFTs, forex, or "investment opportunities." No supplements, miracle cures, or anything you'd cringe to see in your community WhatsApp.
Adult or dating-adjacent content. No escort services, no OnlyFans promotion, no hookup or casual encounter framing. Singles looking to meet — please use our sister site at shuk.love.
Photos that violate tznius standards. Use judgment. We'll remove anything we wouldn't want a child in our community to see.
Deceptive listings. No fake products, false certifications, misleading prices, or hashgachos that don't exist. Be honest about condition.
Personal attacks or lashon hara. Don't name individuals to disparage them. Don't share other people's contact info without permission. Don't use a listing to settle a personal score.
Off-topic political content. This isn't the place for it.
03How moderation works
Every listing is read by a person before going live. Most are approved within a few hours, sometimes faster. We don't use AI to make the final call — a real human reads each submission.
If a listing doesn't meet guidelines, we'll either suggest changes or decline it. Either way, you'll hear back at the email you submitted with.
We make mistakes. If you think a listing was rejected unfairly, reply to the email and we'll take another look.
04Your privacy
Your email address is never shown publicly. Interested buyers reach you through our system, and we forward their messages to you.
Phone numbers are optional. If you fill one in, it appears on your listing — only fill it in if you want it visible.
We don't sell, share, or rent your data to anyone. We don't run ads. We don't track you across the web.
05Removing a listing
Listings auto-expire after 30 days. To remove one earlier, email hello@shuk.world with the listing title and we'll pull it within a day.
If your item sold and you'd like to mark it as such instead of removing it, we can do that too — just ask.
06Disputes between users
We're a bulletin board, not a beis din. We don't escrow money, verify products, or arbitrate sales. Transactions happen directly between users.
That said — if a listing turns out to be fraudulent, deceptive, or in bad faith, please tell us. We'll remove the listing and may ban the seller depending on what happened.
For serious disputes involving large sums, please consult your local Rav or beis din.
07Contact us
Questions, suggestions, complaints, or to report a problem — hello@shuk.world. We read every email.
If you've seen content that needs urgent attention (security, hate, safety), put "URGENT" in the subject line.
